Abstract

The Flavicki Angelfish is a hybrid between the Lemonpeel Angelfish (Centropyge flavissima) and Halfblack Angelfish (Centropyge vrolikii). Its coloration is distinguished by a harmonious arrangement of lemon, apricot, and ripe persimmon hues, complemented by delicate accents of blueberry and plum. The Flavicki exhibits a more restrained palette, characterized by gradual transitions between its constituent colors and subtle variations in pigmentation. The resulting phenotype possesses a remarkable softness and elegance. Every specimen is feeding at our facility before they ship, and comes with our 14-day Extended Guarantee.

Introduction

The Flavicki Angelfish combines the characteristic pigmentation of Centropyge flavissima with the more subdued coloration associated with Centropyge vrolikii. The resulting hybrid exhibits a distinctive intermediate phenotype, retaining recognizable elements of both parental species while developing a harmonious chromatic composition of its own.

Its coloration recalls the delicate gradations of ripening fruit, beginning with the luminous complexion of lemon peel along the face and ventral surface before gradually deepening into the soft tones of apricot and white peach. Across the dorsal region, these hues mature into the richer coloration of ripe persimmon, while the fins preserve a translucent quality reminiscent of golden plums.

Particularly striking are the delicate blueberry and plum-colored accents surrounding the eyes, introducing an unexpected contrast to the predominantly warm pigmentation. Toward the caudal region, the coloration softens into the subdued tones of fig skin, recalling the darker posterior pigmentation of the Halfblack Angelfish.

Rather than exhibiting sharply delineated regions of contrasting color, the Flavicki possesses a series of gradual transitions that lend its appearance an understated elegance.

Important Notes

As with other members of Centropyge, the Flavicki is best maintained in a mature marine aquarium with ample rockwork, sheltered retreats, and opportunities for natural grazing. A varied diet incorporating marine algae and high-quality prepared foods is recommended. Although its captive-bred ancestry represents a significant distinction from wild-collected dwarf angelfish, the Flavicki retains the territorial tendencies characteristic of the genus. Care should therefore be taken when introducing it to aquaria containing other dwarf angelfish, particularly in confined environments.
