Abstract

The Nebula anemonefish from Bali Aquarich is a breathtaking designer variety named for its resemblance to the luminous drifting clouds seen in deep-space nebulae. Flowing white patterning spreads organically across the body against vibrant orange and black contrast, creating an appearance that feels almost celestial in nature. Every individual develops its own unique constellation of markings, ensuring that no two specimens are ever alike. Each Nebula anemonefish is a living centerpiece with truly one-of-a-kind character. Introduction

The Nebula Anemonefish is a spectacular designer developed by Bali Aquarich and named for the extraordinary white patterning that spreads across its body like luminous clouds suspended against the darkness of space.

Its coloration is at once familiar and completely transformed: brilliant white flows organically across a vivid orange body bordered by deep black, breaking apart into islands, branches, and sweeping fields of color. Rather than the orderly bars of a conventional anemonefish, the pattern seems almost painted onto the fish, with every individual developing its own unique composition.

Some exceptional specimens also develop extensive white markings across the head, producing the distinctive Helmet Nebula phenotype. The combination of dramatic head coverage and flowing body patterning makes these among the most visually striking individuals produced from the Nebula lineage.

The Nebula lineage derives from the Picasso morph, which is usually identified as Amphiprion percula. However, we conservatively identify our captive-bred designer Percula lineages as Amphiprion cf. percula. Genetic testing done by Decamicron Labs suggests that Amphiprion ocellaris admixture is present in some Picasso specimens that have passed through our facility.

Despite their extraordinary appearance, Nebula Anemonefish retain the approachable husbandry that makes captive-bred anemonefish such excellent aquarium inhabitants. They readily accept prepared foods, adapt well to established marine aquaria, and may eventually form a pair and establish a territory around a favored section of rockwork, coral, or host anemone.

Methods

All fish sold by Decamicron Labs undergo our multi-stage conditioning procedure before release. Particular attention is given to parasite control, feeding stabilization, behavioral observation, and post-import recovery. Important Notes

No two nebulas will likely ever possess precisely the same arrangement of white, black, and orange. Particularly elaborate helmets and body patterns can become a centerpiece fish. As these fish mature, the dark margins surrounding their white patterning tend to become more pronounced. The result is a fish whose pattern gains definition and contrast with age.

Anemonefish are particularly associated in the aquarium trade with Brooklynella, a potentially serious external protozoan disease that can progress rapidly in newly acquired fish. Decamicron Labs specifically treats our anemonefish for Brooklynella as part of our conditioning protocol before they are offered for sale.
